Guitar Appreciation Thread

Recently, I bought a nearly 1300 dollar Fender American deluxe Stratocaster(Sunburst). I have been playing guitar for about 5 years and am pretty good since I've taken 3 years of private lessons.
This guitar Sounds beautiful and clear. I had a gio Ibanez that was 300 dollars and wow, the difference is amazing. The guitar looks like a beauty is well.
Before I had this guitar in mind, I was thinking about buying a Gibson Les Paul, but I tried it out and did not like the tone of the instrument. Even the expensive ones just didn't do it for me.
This Strat satisfies my style and any other styles that I could possibly dream of playing.
It's even easier to play which is a bonus, but not a necessity.
Any of you guitarists out there please post a pic of your machine or share what you've got to say.

i use an esp ltd viper-50.
It plays amazing for a guitar at the price i got it for, it stays in tune and sounds good, i changed the value of the tone capacitor and it now can go from really dull sounding to very bright by adjusting the tone knob. I replaced all the electronics in it except the pickups.
The pickups sounds good but maybe if i replace them it'll sound even better.
i can get a good crunchy rhythm tone using the bridge pickup and a really nice smooth tone using the neck pickup.

Hmm, excuse my ignorance, but I don't know what "pups" are.
I have not made any customizations to this guitar, it is straight from a guitar center, and to tell you the truth, I don't think it needs any customization. It is perfect the way it is.
I might replace the "nut" sometime in the future though.
I definitely need a half-stack or new amp of some sort. All I have is this crate that sounds like shit. 50 watts I think?

Ahh, well, They are factory pick ups for the American deluxe strat.
Are there petter pick ups I can get for it? I know little to nothing about pick ups.
I know about humbuckers kind of.

Yeah, I love them but i'd like to try others. What kind of guitar do you play on?
It's really hard to tell the sound of my guitar without a good amp.

Ooh! Fancy, the metal is in gold!
How much did that child cost you?
It looks a little different than sunburst, is it tobacco perhaps?

Very nice Phishe
I have an old Gibson Les Paul that my father gave me. I looked up it's serial number and learned that this Gibson was made in 1976. But I'm not certain, you almost have to decipher the serial number in order to find the year. Its a little confusing.
I don't like it so much, in fact I never even play it anymore. The tone is nice, but its not versatile. It starts to sound bland and I don't like getting bored with my tone. This thing weighs like 3O lbs. Obscenely heavy. After an hour (probably less) of having this guitar pulling down on me, my back starts hurting, my neck stiffens and the guitar strap digs deeply into my shoulder.
My new guitar is an Ibanez AS-83. I love this thing. Its beautiful in so many ways.
She's semi hollow, has mucho versatility and is so damn easy to play. The neck is a little wider than that of the Gibson. For whatever reason the fingerboard seems so accessible. It takes very little effort to dance the fingers all over this thing.
I can get a great twang or a smooth creamy jazz brand of tone. The variety of distinct tones that she can readily acheive keeps this axe from being pigeon-holed.

Nice boneman, that is a beautiful axe you got there. I love the Ibanez hollowbodies. That is a semi-hollow right? Every time I go to a guitar shop I end up playing on the Ibanez hollowbodies for hours. They just make them so well. The sound is great without an amplifier, but I have yet to plug one in.
In the future I would like to get my hands on this beast. It's pretty expensive, I think in the 3,000
It's an emerald burst gibson SG supreme.
A beauty huh?

You're missing out man, please plug in next time. These guitars aren't meant to be played as acoustic instruments. You'd never see a guitar player walk on stage with this guitar and stand in front of a mic, ya know? Amplification makes this, and all other electric guitars what they are.
But it is nice not to have to struggle to hear myself when I'm just sitting on the couch running through scales and arpeggios. The acoustic volume is useful in that kind of a setting.
But again, find a nice amp. Preferably a Fender tube amp of some model, dial up a litttttle bit of reverb or delay, and wail.

Nice guitar boneman. I paid it 1200$ (canadian) because i bought it from a guy, but the retail price was around 1400$. Are guitars in USA cheaper than in Canada? Here's my complete set-up with a Fender Blues Junior 15 W tube and a radial tonebone classic tube distorsion.

I got a peavey T-60 from around the late 1970's to early 80's. Was my dads and plays very nice however doesn't have quite the sound I'm after. Currently would like a strat but will have to wait for that. Has the original case with it too and is in mint condition. Nice guitars all around just wish I had the cash to purchase one so nice. I know this much if I want to get a strat it's gonna prolly be one of their time machine models.
while we're on the subject what kind of music do you guys like to play? me I like bluesy styles of music and my favorite guitarists are eric clapton, jimi and yngwie. try to learn yngwies song blue (look it up on youtube if you haven't heard its an amazing song). Also love David Gilmore.

I'm Not quite Sure. That seems like a good normal price for what you bought. My american deluxe had a retail of something in the 1300's since yours is an anniversary addition I would assume it costs more. I payed 1230 or something around that for what I got. It came with a stellar case and a nice chord.

I just bought this, and am changing the neck pickup to a Fender strat, and the bridge to a P-90. I am also taking out the coil-tap (obviously) and the pup selector for two volume knobs. I haven't decided whether to use 250k or 500k pots, since the fretboard is maple or whatever and the neck pickup is really hot while the other is a P-90. Any suggestions?...
