crack additct uncle

My aunt and uncle are very nice people and have a great life. They live in a house on the lake that is paid for by my uncles dad along with just about everything else besides alcohol and other recreations (he is rich off his ass from oil farms and about to die) they have three kids which are very well behaved and can practically baby-sit themselves at age 10 and 8. I recently discovered crack, along with paraphernalia, in their garage when I was at a house party they had. I was watching after there kids while they where playing with the birds (they have allot of parakeets they keep in a big cage in the garage that is open 24/7). I was pretty shocked as he shows no signs of needing or wanting to be involved in something like this, he has basically got everything one could ever want in life. My theory is just b/c he has allot of cash and nothing to do with it along with the fact that he doesn’t think he can live up to be as great as his dad. I need help on how to approach this situation, I want to help him.
Thanks, Devin

Well first of all, it's really assumption on your part that he is a crack "addict" now isn't it? You know not everyone who smokes crack is addicted to it, right?

Maybe the parakeets brought it into the house.

Yes...despite the stigma against crack and heroin, while both may have a high capacity for addiction, it isn't like you smoke a little and you can't get enough.
According to two studies, one by Andrew Weil in 1998 and the other in 2004, there is no evidence that occasional small amount use of cocaine (smoked or insufflated) is dangerous to the health of the user. Short term heavy use can be damaging and result in paranoia, hallucinations, depression, but occasional use can be, we don't want to say harmless, but, safe if done safely and responsibly.
Also there is a perception that crack is more addictive because of a few bogus studies done in the 80's. There is no pharmacological difference in the addictiveness of crack cocaine over, let's say, powdered cocaine. The only reason it might seem to be more "addictive" is because smoking delivers a more instant wham-bang! effect and gives instant gratification, and the user gets used to that and overdoes it.
I just don't want the OP to jump to conclusions here.

Hey, neither would I, and I'm not suggesting crack is harmless or that it should be smoked. All I'm saying is if he's gonna talk to his uncle he should prepare his mindset and attitudes on drug use beforehand. When parents catch kids with weed or other drugs they assume a hell of a lot about their drug use that the kid might not have a chance to communicate to their parents. No reason it shouldn't be fair going both ways.

well another thing i forgot to say was that he is shooting it up. just thought id let u know that too before i left, i think. OK well this is what i found, a needle, a burnt to hell spoon with remnants still in spoon, a lighter and alcohol lamp and multiple empty baggies torn open not opened using top of bag (where the zip lock seal is), and one unopened bag with a small amount of crack cocaine in it. i am not very familiar with such drugs as i am only into psychedelics myself, so i don't exactly know for sure what i saw, just a guess. and my uncle does nothing but lay around all day and sleep and whine about depression and such. he used to be a very energetic person and now he seems like an unhappy...well..addict.

Weird man. Apparently injecting crack is becoming more and more prevalent .

Sounds like maybe he's smoking crack and shooting heroin.
If he was only doing cocaine, he wouldn't be listless ("does nothing but lay around all day and sleep"), he'd be hyper-paranoid and unable to sleep.
If I were you, I'd keep a closer eye on him and and his habits before confronting him.
If he's an occasional drug user and he's rich and his family is happy and well, he may be okay if he doesn't take steps that make him worse off. (not that he's well off with what he's doing, but at least it's not at an uncontrollable level).
This is a tough one.
I wouldn't confront him until you're sure that his family is in jeopardy.
