Yeah, when he puts the can off-screen, that's a good opportunity to switch it for something.
The sound also un-synchs twice, which could indicate editing.
Finally, were the whole thing done live infront of me, I would guess that the scissors (which you have never seen up to that point and he holds at an odd angle) are carrying the coin with them into the can.

Yeah thats definitely cake. Just a simple trick of the eye like most all "magic" tricks.

It's pretty simple, I think. He's palming the coin and shuffling it around. The rattling after he's first "slammed it into the can" is him wiggling and rattling the coin against the back of the can. It also serves to shake up the soda, so that when the fizz comes out, it conceals the coin being shoved into the can.
Best guess, anyhow.
