how to stop them growing

Do farmers really stop shrooms from growing by just giving the cows a salt lick. There are fewer and fewer every year

I'm not sure how salt would make them not grow..
but I've also heard that farmers throwing oranges into the field for the cows to eat somehow stops growth as well.

I think the only way for them to stop shrooms from growing is by using a certain kind of feed. But then again, maybe the myths are true? But I doubt it.

Well I know that salt licks are good for the cows and maybe a high sodium diet is bad for mushrooms. There are fewer and fewer mushrooms in the fields every year, the field I use to get them from has stopped growing them. Anyone know of these myths to be true? Just trying to look for the most ghetto fields there are now, the risk of being shot is higher but I guess thats fine.

Maybe the fields were over used and exhausted?

But i do agree on seeing less and less mushrooms every year

Simple answer... NO!

Oranges will not control the growth of anything.
There are fungicides on grain feeds for the fact if the feed gets wet it wont mold..
The fungicide is not active once ingested by the cows..

Salt licks are nothing to worry about.. I have picked ounces of Cubes and Copes inches from licks...

If you don't find mushrooms in your field its probably for the fact hat they are just not there at the moment..
Some fields do well in the winter months and some do well in the summer months..
Start l;looking for new hunting spots and stop thinking that the farmers have anything to do with mushrooms growing..

I found a link that says salt licks can stop mushrooms from growing but are not that affective. http://jug-or-not.com/shroom/faq.html
It also says that the special feed is not for stopping mushrooms from growing as much as it is for the cows them self. Thank you Yessup for your help though, I love your pictures.
