3/4 to 1 inch should do it. Does it have a little rack in the bottom, that you set the jars on? If so, Just enough to cover the rack seems to work fine. SixTango

I have the same cooker... bring the level to 1/2" from the top of the lower jars. It'll last 45 mins easily.

5/16" tall aluminium trivet on the bottom, so just covering it would cause a BOOM!! in 20 minutes or less.

The water would evaporate, the air would expand rapidly and the safety plug would blow out from the extreme heat melting it and pressure behind it.

Follow my previous reply.

OOppps. The Raccoon was talking before he was thinking & deserves to have his tail slammed in the screen door. He has an old 941 AA PC & a newer 925 AA PC. Neither lose any apreciable amount of stream & 1 inch works fine @ 15 pounds for 90 minutes.

He forgot that the type with the weighted rocker arm gizmo lose steam at a pretty consistant rate. So, the Racoon was dead wrong. Follow the advice of those who have one like yours.

SORRY to talking out the wrong orfice & give you bum advice.

with the jars on the rack make the water like 2 inches as long as it bolling and the bubbles dont go on the top its cool itll last 45 mins to hour easy i use the tin foil method to wich is diff from the pf maby its the ramsy seal i forget bot put the tin foil in the jar make a little impression like 1/2 -3/4in deaep then put the dry verm inand cap itwith the tin foil pressed around the threads it works so much better for me anyway and the dry verm dont absorb the steam from the jars i use like 55cc water
