I couldnt believe he left out the acid chloride synthesis for LSD from lysergic acid the first time I skimmed through the book..

Use thionyl chloride to turn the lysergic acid into an acid chloride and use diethylamine to attack this acid chloride to produce LSD.. the diethylamine proceeds through a smooth nucleophilic acyl substitution mechanism that generally gives pretty high yields.


I dont like the sulfur trioxide method.

let me ask you. Is this feasable lets say 90 % success rate and 90% rate of clean getaway from acquiring certain chemicals and 90% rate of not blowing yourself up for a layman?

There are a few methods in there pal..

I wouldnt be too optimistic about an LSD synthesis if I had zero chemistry knowledge or training.. you would be surprised how much only a course or two could make a difference in lab skills.

You really need to have some sort of clue about whats going on when you're adding chemicals together.. some steps may require extreme care.. and warnings are not always made obvious in published synthesis because it is usually assumed that those who are reading it are competent chemists. Cooking up LSD while uneducated about chemistry for the first time is nothing like cooking a turkey while uneducated about .. cooking. lol

Right now, after having finished second year organic chemistry courses.. Id feel pretty confident about an LSD synthesis if I were able to obtain the precursors. I wouldnt be surprised at all if I fucked something up the first time though ..

i have beginners level chemical skills and may entertain notions of pursuing a degree in chemistry.. help?

you eager bucks need to remember that chemistry + neighbors = endangering not only yourself but innocent others.

don't be foolish when you can just grab a cactus or a salvia plant or even make some quality LSA fairly simply.
