Found some mushrooms a few hours ago, would just like to get a expert opinion again on the ID.
Found in leaf mulch and pine needle.
Gills: tan colour
Stem: White, blue bruising Cap: Golden tan, darking in middle at nipple, fading lighter towards edges where it has bruised bluey black.
Spore print: none as yet Bruising: stem and cap edges
Location: east melbourne
There were some very similar mushrooms nearby, but they had orangey gills and rusty coloured bits on the stem. Sorry about the pic quality.
Thanks

Yeah i agree they look the part, although the photo is pretty crap. Make sure you do a sporeprint on them, subaeruginosa have a purplish print, good luck

spore print not noticeably purple. It appears to be milk chocolate brown.
Any ideas? The bluing is certain on all of them, and the spore print from my last p.subs was not purple either.
Thanks again guys

Hrrmph.
The classic description of a sub print is written in my book as dark chocolate brown/purple.
Having said that, the subs (if they are subs, they do look strange) i've been picking recently have been straight purple, getting black in a deep print. You definitely wouldn't confuse them with any colour of brown.
So im a little confused, either you have subs and down in Melbourne they print brown (maybe a deeper print would show the purple?) and up in Sydney they print purple/black, OR you don't have subs.
... or i don't have subs. but then wtf do i have if not subs.
Sorry not very helpful i know...

What is the difference between P. subaeruginosa and P. subbalteatus?

You can find the answers with a little research. One is Psilocybe subaeruginosa, the other is Panaeolus subbalteatus. Besides the presence of psilocybin in both species, they couldn't be more different from each other.

Yes, it's an easily confusing mix-up. This is why there is a motion on the table to refer to subbalteatus as subtle tea tits. Should clear everything up.

dude they seriously look like subs to me. Have you got a better camera? take some pics of cap, gills and spore print in natural light. It will clear things up in an instant.

Well, the print should be brown for a sub, not purple. It can appear to be brown with a purple tint. Lookup some of the other Australia/NZ threads and sub threads. You'll see pics of spore prints in there.
