Hey so i went on my first hunt tonight and found something, not sure wht they are so an ID would be awesome. A friend of mine has gathered and eaten the mushrooms from this spot before, but i just want to be safe.

Habitat: Cow pasture. Mushrooms were found growing from cow patties.
Gills: Gills are dark brown/black and attached
Stem: White, solid, somewhat fragile. 1-4 in. long.
Cap: White, dome shaped, .5-2 in. across
Spore Print: jet black
Bruising: Looks like some blue bruising on the caps nothing really visible on stems
Location: Central Florida

i have found some of the same, which were active.
due to the smell i decided to eat them at first i thought they were copes do to their smell but the stems weren't bruising...DEF. active though. maybe because we are recovering from the lack of rain they aren't "as active"? this sounds dumb but they were all white and had the same stem as a cope but no brusing except on one, a worm was eating it and it was completely blue...i picked about 20.

At this field i saw many cow patties that had a lot of tiny mushrooms springing up from it. How long does it take them to mature?

I'm not a mycologist, but PLEASE DO NOT EAT THAT SHIT IF YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WTF it is!!!! It's not worth killing yourself...

It's NOT Psilocybe Cubensis....

...but...if you live in FL, you're lucky!! Search some more and you'll eventually find the good shit!!

Keep posting your finds if your unsure of what you have. There are some awesome shroomery members that can help ID....

Hey all thanks for the good info. Dont worry, i am a noob to hunting, but im not stupid. Im not going to eat some random mushroom i find growing. I am really serious about mushrooms, the experience and trying to hunt them. Thanks alot and hopefully i will post some new finds here in a few days, i have some more spots i want to check out.
