If you order a cactus cutting from a supplier are they still alive and able to be put into a pot and grown, as opposed to just eating them, or does one need to buy a rooted plant to do so?

Generally the word "cutting" implies something that can be transplanted, but since people generally simply buy cactus cuttings to directly eat I'm not sure.

I have two large San Pedros that I grew from one original cutting. I've had them for nearly two years. A cutting 3 inches tall has turned into 2 cacti, 2 feet tall.

I've never felt the desired effects from eating it.

How about this for perspective.

I had a "cutting" I got from a guy. It grew into many more. One which I thought was dead layed on the CEMENT backyard for months. It started growing roots and showed life. on the cement.

It's hard to kill it.

Take any piece of Pedro that's 12 inches or more, and jusy LAY IT IN THE DIRT. Then forget about it, it will grow.
