shrooms, should i eat them fresh or dry?
    #699877 - 06/25/02 07:59 AM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Ok, i have shroomed many many times an know almost everything i need to about them. What iam lookin for here is some opinions of knowledge if i should just eat them tonight fresh or drie them. An if i was to go the dry rout anyone know the brand name for the non-toxic stuff to drie them quickly. I have tried many other drieing techs but always lose some mushies in the process. These mushies are from the field mind you an are some species of cubs. anyway by the time i get them they might be already on their way to crap so is there also any way to save them. No flaming please if i want i can go hunting my self i have my own field of joy but this is just a free moment so iam grabbing it. Peace out!!!

Fan dry 12 - 24 hours then damp rid. Fresh srhooms work fine, but you cant store them more then a few days with out some rotting or issues. Maybe in fridge they will last for a week.

What my friend does is take a small empty clean trash can. Sit one of them plastic crates on it. Put lay the musies across the bottom of the crate. Put a fan on top of the crate blowing down on the mushies.

For the dessication. He gets a medium rubbermade dump one of them 48 ounce damp rid things in the bottom. Take one of them dish rack thing s that prop stuff up like 3 inches. Lay a paper towel across it and then put the mushies on it.

They should be dry in like 2 days after putting em in the damp rid. No, noticable potency lost this way.

Eat them fresh, always the best IMO.
Drying shrooms oxidises psilocin, a psycoactive produced by the shroom, thus destroying it. This is the bluing in them when dried or bruised.

Fresh everytime if you can.

Good luck

Bon voyage.

Thanks baraka, for the info do you know what brand you friend uses for the damp rid. I heard you have to use the now toxic kind or something to that fact. An yes the reason i was asking about the drieing is so i can keep them longer if i get more then i want to use. Unfortunately the people i was supose to get the mushies from ate all theirs so i have to go pick my own, so i definately will have to dry them cuz i will have way to much to eat at once. Also i have done the fan dry method an for wild mushies they go bad quick so the fan doesn't help to much, i ended up with less after using that method last time. Peace out!!

i know this has nothign to do with this forum, but u said something about the blue stuff on the shroom is from damage or bruising, so when u get dried shrooms from a dealer, its not good to get the ones with lots of blue. because thats what i have been told by certain people is that the blue is good. i dunno though im just relaying whta i heard

That's a common myth around here, too, that "the blue ones are killer".

He was right. The blue color is oxidized psilocin which isn't psychoactive.

I dunno where you live but there are home depot's around here. If you go to the paint section they carry it there.

http://www.damprid.com

im sure other places to buy that stuff. Damp rid is not toxic at all but make sure not to let your wet shrooms touch it because it will absorb some damprid and be hard to become dry. Damprid will also wick up a papertowel and soak into shrooms if i a paper towel is on the stuff.
