South FL Finds
    #699245 - 06/24/02 08:49 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

Hey,

I'm in tampa, it's been raining alot lately, so I went and checked some fields and found over 100 yummy little fungus friends. 84 cubies and 20 or so copes. Though, that was my first time harvesting copes, so I wasn't exactly sure when I was out in the fields that we had the right species, so we only picked 20 as an experiment, though there were hundreds of copes in the field. I know the field has other frequent visitors(unfortunately), but I think that most peeps just look for the cubies, and leave the copes alone. We get em home, and sure enough, jet black spore print, flecks on the stem, and after a couple of hours they start crackin on the caps(when we picked em there weren't cracks on most of em), and they bruised a very dark blue after some handling. So a friend of mine decides to be the guinea pig and eats like 6 of them, and has an intense trip. Phew, they ARE the right kind(I knew it all along), the rest of us eat the cubies and have an awesome time. First shroom trip in over a year. So... just so everyone in south FL knows, it is definitely the season, and keep an eye out for copelandia cyanecus(sp?) check mjshroomers site/or erowid for cope pics for correct id. Be carefule everyone, have fun!

Next time I'll post pics of the score
