WBS quarts, how they lookin, should I be shakin?

Ok this pic is of 4 WBS quart jars, inoculated on the May 8th. From left to right. The far left was shaken 1x, on the 11th of May. The 2nd from the left, shaken 1x on the 12th of May. The 2 right side jars have yet to be shaken yet.
Questions...
1. General how they lookin (i see no discoloration so it appears contam free so far).
2. Ive shaken the left 2 jars, do I reshake them before i expect full colonization, or let them go as is until they fully colonize.
3. The two jars on the right, the one with more growth is like that on all sides of the jar, so is it time to shake? The far right one with little growth I assume I should just let grow a little more before I shake...
Any and all input greatly appreciate...Thanks in advance...

shake once at 20-30% colonization

Only shake each once, so the ones that you have shaken..don't do it again.
They look good.

1) the look nice, from what i can see
2) let them go and fully colonize
3) id shake the third one ...third as in 1 being the furthest left, if you haven't shaken it yet.
This was from spore syringe im assuming?

Man, you have some beautiful jars.
How do you get that kind of pattern? do you not shake the jars after innoculating?

Each jar is shaken BEFORE inoculation. Inoculation is 5 small squirts; 1 down the center 4 around the jar corners. AGAINST THE GLASS.
The 4 against the glass allows spore or LC solution. To run down the glass; From the top to the jar bottom.
It also allows spores in solution. To be close placed together inside the jar. So they don't have to search far for a compatible mate. That is why you DO NOT shake jars, just after you inoculate.
WAIT until you see 20-25% coloration (against the glass). Then, SHAKE.......JUST ONCE.

Yea I used some siringes I had from Ralphs. Used 1 full siringe for the 4 jars. And did basically what Agar said, shook the jars up prior to inoculation. Sprayed a few shots on the sides of the jar and a little right in the middle. Then shook the jars again right after inoculated.
Strain is PR on these jars

Really now. your suppose to shake after PC. Inoculate then 2-3days later shake em. Shake em alot if you have to. Then you have to have patiences.
Good post AGAR as usual.

Wow, you have really taught me something here.
I thought the side of the jar technique was only need for BRF cakes,
Now i know i was wrong.
Thanks

Not quite. As Agar said, it's best not to shake after inoculation until jars are 20% to 30% colonized, especially if starting from spores. The reason is that dikaryotic mycelium grows much faster than monokaryotic. For that reason, you want your spores to all be germinating in close proximity to each other, so they can mate soon after germination, becoming the faster growing multi-nucleate mycelium. If you force the monokaryotic mycelium to colonize the jar, it takes much longer. RR

Dude I said shake after sterilization. Then inoculate and shake agian after 2-3days. But I guess the point has been made.
