time to fruit yet?
    #6883458 - 05/07/07 06:27 AM (16 years, 10 months ago)

i spawned some crumbled cakes to coir exactly 9 days ago and i went to look at them this morning and there are some defenent spots of thick white mycelium (probabally where the spawn was present) and then there is a fine white fuzz all over the rest.

i was wondering if now would be a good time to put in the fc or should a wait until the mycelium is thicker throughout the rest of the substrate? thanks guys

The bulk substrate should be colonized 100% before casing or fruiting.

If it is 100% colonized then yes the top would be completely covered with white mycelium.

Sometimes the top will stall if it dries out or if there are a few spots on top that might have got a tish of bacteria in them.

If it stalls like this with less than 10% of the top showing then you can still go ahead and case it.
