mycelium growth halt.

I tried to post this message earlier, I guess it didn't come through or something. Anyway if it double posts, I'm sorry.
I inoculated 12 BRF jars around april 19th. For the most part the growth of the mycelium has been great, many jars around 75% colonized. However, during the past few days the mycelium has seemed to halted its spread. The tek I followed didn't suggest putting polyfil or tyvek(sp?) in the inoculation holes, so I didn't do that, I just covered the jar lids with tin foil. I have since read about gas exchange, and the need for this. However, the person who wrote the tek seemed to have no problems colonizing his jars..
I am incubating the jars in a TiT, and today I opened it and loosened the tin foil on all the jars. I then sprayed lysol lightly in the inner jar and re-covered the jars with the towel. What I am wondering is; could the mycelium growth have halted because of the lack of gas exchange, and will what I did help, or do bad things?
The mycelium in a fair amount of the jars also has defined edges, and I read that sometimes points to contam. This could also be a possibility for why the growth has stopped. I will provide pictures asap, but in the meantime, is there any input anyone has to offer?
Thanks guys.

I can see moisture inside a lot of the jars, so I don't think it's that. Contamination on every single jar? =x That doesn't seem right....or good.

Attempting to grow without a filter will lead to contamination in every single jar. RR

If there's a top layer of verm, there's a filter. If not, he's screwed. The fact that it's in a TIT indicates the temperature is probably too high, and the distinct edges indicates the mycelium has ran up against a contaminant. The mycelium should 'fade' at the leading edge of the growth, not come to an abrupt edge. Here's what a colonizing jar should look like. RR

mine are kinda halted, im taking 1 jar and remove the lid completely exposing the dry vermiculite see if this air exchange helps it to finish the jar. just a test cause i want to know if it fails ill report. likely it ill but owell

You should prolly just remove the tin foil.

Also, the temperature in said incubator is 86 degrees right now. Is this hot enough to halt the growth of the mycelium?

86F has resulted in more failures than probably anything else. It's WAY too hot for mushroom mycelium, and perfect for molds and bacteria. RR

I just checked up on our cakes. My homie Lienahtan turned down the temp last night, and it's approximately 80 degrees now. I took the towel off, and the aluminum tops are now loosened. The mycelium appears very healthy, with lots of rhizomorphic growth. The defined edges are the only thing that worry me, but they are not all well defined. I think there is still hope?!
I'll post pics tomorrow to clarify the matter. Thanks
