Yes, this needs to be updated. Besides subbs, bluefoots (bluefeet?) are apparently abundent in parts of Virginia. Also I suspect that Gymnopilus species can be found there. But I think it will take some real work and exploration on your alls part, but that will be good because you'll end up being musrhoom hunters for life. Check the bluefoot thread though, there is some good info in there about Virginia.

Usually it's a reddish stem, so I don't think you found subbs. Post a pic if you can though just in case.

Im new to hunting and live here in va.
so far I have had no luck but im all the time meeting people who claim they hunt in cow pastures
but they always tell me crap like, "you have to go right before the sunrises because the sunlight will kill the shrooms" or " they only grow in black angus pastures"

I live in VA as well. I recently found some subbs. Was a small find, but was extremely fun.

I found all my subbs in the hottest and sunniest parts of the day in a field with hay and a horse.

Cubes are in va but there rare. I find bluefoot by the pound(wet). Pan subbs are on every fertilized lawn pretty much. Ive seen big laughing gyms but dont really mess with em. Virginia is for shroomers.

I started a Virginia section in this document:

http://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area

Does it look correct and complete?

Virginia
Panaeolus subbalteatus
Psilocybe caerulipes
Psilocybe cubensis (rare, only near the coast)
Gymnopilus spectabilis
Gymnopilus luteofolius
