can anyone exlpain to me the meaning of this movie... i have watched this movie while i was candy flipping...so my beliefs on the movie are probably far fetched (eventhough i TOTALLY understood it at the time [sarcasm]). my conclusion at the time was that it was about a person growing up and becoming a herion addict and the wall stood for the barrier that blocks a herion addict from the outside world...like i said acid and E..my ideas may have been far fetched at the time....can anyone explain to me the meaning of this movie

the wall could mean many things, maybe including the wall that doesnt let you percieve what the wall is about:)

Its a good movie, for me the wall always seemed like the wall of authority, of the higher power or even of something that just holds us back, that grabs onto the back of our shirts and prevents us from doing something, its that feeling of restraint and of being alone, isolated, a human among many humans but alone in reality.
I love it, it was an awesome movie with many valid messages.

Pink Floyd is a character based on both Roger Waters and Syd Barret, I think.

It was heavily based of his life, and how he was alienated. Every unhappy occurrence in his life was another brick in the wall that separated him from the rest of the world. And when the wall gets broken down, the building cycle starts over again. (If you listen to the very end of the wall the last track ends with "Weren't we..." and the first one begins with "...just here?"

Most of the replys are really what it is about. The rise and fall of a rock star, burnt out and turns into an ashole but somehow figgures out how to ket it knocked down at the end.
I freaked out along with The Wall when I was in High School so it has a really deep meaning in my heart.
Follow the meaning it has in your heart and use that to make the world a better, less isolated place to live.

i think of it meaning the wall that many people build around themselves due to outside circumstances so eventually they are trapped in a wall of their own making... This wall is how people get when they try to act certain ways to seem or look cool when they really should just be themselves and everyone could get along so much better then all the bullshit of the look cool and everything else...
sry bout ramble but im a little high...
