Looking in the Distance
    #6760670 - 04/08/07 10:03 AM (16 years, 11 months ago)

"All religions will pass, but this will remain:
simply sitting in a chair and looking in the distance."

In my life I want to see the extraordinary in the "ordinary", the miraculous in the "everyday"; to live every millisecond of my time on Earth in the present and in reality. I dont want to explain away the unknowable, to "answer" the unanswerable question of meaning/lack of meaning in our existance, I dont want to follow a belief system or accept anything as truth. I want to be part of the beauty of the Universe, a vital part of the miracle that is the Universe contemplating itself.
Mankind will not exist forever, I think; somewhere down the line, however long away, our species will become extinct, and all that will be left of humanity will be the smallest of microscopic footprints on a small corner of the Universe. What then? Truth, perhaps? What now? These are the questions I wish to turn my mind to, and in never answering them, I will define myself, find beauty in my life, in every day, in every moment.

"Get the fuck off of my obstacle. Get the fuck down off of my obstacle. Now. Move it. "

(edit) Or maybe I am.

Great post!

I really like that quote:

"All religions will pass, but this will remain:
simply sitting in a chair and looking in the distance."

Very true.

:bunny::bunnyhug:
All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

I see much effort to predict the future
and even more to seem not to
(is this because you know it is not important to predict the future or because you need to play both sides).

???? I dont understand. I made no effort to do anything like you suggested, the only "prediction" I made is that the human race may one day be extinct, and that was by the by, an attempt to illustrate our place in the Universe as it really is, ie of little importance in the scheme of things. WTF do you mean "play both sides"? :wtf:
