I had a 25 watt floro mini compact bulb in my terrarium. It just broke and to tell you the truth so am I. Will an indacasent or halogen bulb work? My mushies are starting to form and I need light soon! Also spores die at 104 degrees ferinheight but what temperature will mycellia and fruiting mycellia die at? And also how exactly should I pick my mushies? I grabbed my first one and it stained like hell! Should I cut them? Or just pull them out of the cake. Im doin the "pf style".Thanks for all and any replys.

you can just set your cakes in the light which is in your house (sunlight or actual light fixtures). they don't need that much light. some people give them minutes, others give them cycles (12d/12l, 18d/6l, etc)

grab the mushroom by the base, close as you can to the cake and twist it out

Most sources of light will work. The blue spectrum is the best and the red spectrum is the worst. You should only need to expose your cakes to light for 30min - 1hour a day. I just cut a square hole in some cardboard, taped on saran wrap on, and replace my lid with one of those for an hour a day for some light exposure. Good luck!
