How many people are in there? What is the part that is hating or loving another part? No comprendo. Which (I/me) is the subject and which is the object? Seems very fragmented and unwhole (unholy?). Are individuals a community of sub-personalities with different characters vying for control or approving or disapproving of another sub-personality?
Who EXACTLY is minding the store?
I am starting a campaign to be president of me.

And if each monkey is also fragmented and so on; then each human being has a near-infinite number of separate, albeit loosely-linked, personas. If only I could get get a mere thousand or so to work for minimum wage then I/we would be quite wealthy.

The problem is, many monkeys, only one barrel. (And the barrel is the one who has to show up for that minimum wage "would you like hot or mild sauce with that" job.)

Well, if each person is a bunch of things, loosley linked, then everything is a bunch of things loosely linked, only seperate entities are conglomerations of relative tightness? Geez, loosen up, man.
Isn't it some mystical goal to make the many become One? I often times take things out of context, misrepresent, and do other things that are a little bit invalidational? Grains of salt come in handy, or simple slap to the face.
How about, "We are Legion, and we are Many"?
Now this thing with monkeys and barrels. That's beyond me. The thought of monkeys makes my mouth spread a wide joy span, it is wonderful they should be mentioned. Although, meeting one in reality may be a bit overbearing, so it is why they have thier illustrious "barrel"?
Self-loathing a masochistic pleasure to fill the boredom induced by lack of self-love? Uh, you need to love some [monkey] of your self you be able to hate another [monkey]. There is no cold, it's just the absense of [monkey].
So who's calling the shots? Maybe the guy tapping the monkey keg and drinking the loosey goose monkey juice?

I think it depends on the individual (pun intended  ). Some people are more "realized" than others. Some exist centered in a state of mind and some exist centered in a state of being, and its a question of integration.
