What were the big issues?

Such as what were the main things discussed on the news?

I was much too young to remember anything from back then, but I need to know some significant national issues of that year for an assignment.

Anyone remember anything I could use?

I was 8 years old at the time. And you know what, the world was a great place.
My GF's 5 year old cousin knows that it still is :wink:
