Latest Hunt, Bush & Sports field(PICS)
    #670371 - 06/09/02 04:57 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

I started from the bush and found some new patches on the other side of the river.
This is at bushlocation1.

Up close and personal.

This at the new location on the other side of the river. This part of the bush is really trippy when shrooming. The shrooms were growing around the base of the tree, left of my bike.

This is a pic of the P.Euculipta , seem to be dissapearing.

Back to the fern patch, if u look carefully u might be ablle to see the small caps in the fern mulch.

A strange trait these Fern Psilos have, unusually long stems.

Your forest is really pretty. A lot cooler than the ones around here. Filled with cactus's and prickly shit.
and mushrooms to.

I found a small amount of mushrooms at the bush, but I was in disbelief the amount of shrooms I found at this soccer field.

This is at the previous patch that wasnt doing much when I first came here last when it was rainy. Back to how I remembered it last year.
[/image]

On the other side of the buildiing.

A little further down the road I find a new patch in the middle of the roundabout.

Before I coudl come back to pick these beuties some little shits went and trampled and kicked my patch to pieces.

Being pleased with my harvest, I thought it betta be celebrated with a smoke, I made this quick bong using school pens and a Conepiece.

Measured 370 grams wet

mmm... Maybe I should revise my speculation - those are very similar to Guzman's Ps.Australiana - however the colour of their cap when faded looks similar to classic Subaeruginosa - send me a dried gill fragment and ill get someone to have a look and see

I was stunned to see how much magic actually grows in this country, when I first started shrooming I thought they only grew in Europe and USA and the only hope of ever tripping was to grow my own. When I discovered that Australia had many species of mushrooms, from browsing through MJ's "Magic Mushrooms of Australia", I went for a hunt last Autumn and stumbled across the fern patch variety, and my knowledge of Psilocybian blueing led me to believe that what I had found were of magic variety.
With some good research on mushroom sites, I carelessly ate a handful of the small shrooms I had just picked. I could tell they were magic because I had the most intense scary trip of my life, that had me thinking I would be in this crazy state for the rest of my life. Eg : I thought I was in my home town, but we were in another suburb 1\2 an hour away, trying to find a party. I couldnt reconise my close school friends and I saw dark figures dashing behind trees ahead of me.

Hey aussi shroomhead, how are ya mate, in that second last picture of shrooms that's the one's i have been finding lately, do you know what strain they are, or maybee Bluemeanie might know what they are, because i took 6 spore prints from ones i found, and when i scraped it up into a little pile with a razor and there was about half a match head's worth, So what i was thinking was ill just use a insulin syringe, they are 100units=1ml.
So i was thinking that if i only made a small amount of substrate and then inoculate the small amount of substraight in 4 spots with 25units at each inoculation point i should get some growth inside the jar.

And on my last shroom hunt i found what i think to bee Ps Australiana, and i took 3 realy good spore prints from them, i also brought a heap home with me to make prints, but im to chicken shit to try them, and yes they did bruse blue. So i thought by taking prints from some of them i could gro a substraight cake and when the shrooms are growing i can post pic's, i am 88% sure they are Ps Astraliana.

They are "Psilocybe Subagaurosa", classic features. They look a little white cause its been a rather sunny warm day, and they have started to dry.
What sorta environment do you Psilos grow in?

Well it depends - if you beleive Chang and Mills' findings, Ps.Eucalypta, Ps.Australiana, Ps.Subaeruginosa and Ps.Tasmaniana are all the same species = and this finding was echoed by Buchanan in NZ.
On the other hand their ideas are rejected by Stamets who concedes that it is often microscopic and not macroscopic differences that set them apart. Guzman also suggested that Subaerguninosa has brown pleurocystidia and the other species have hyaline - a microscopic difference.
The other point raised by Dutchie from MMA was that the same species would not be expected to fruit in manure (Tasmaniana) and wood debris (subs, aust and eucl.)
Final thing that we found was a mushroom that macroscopically resembles pictures of Australiana in Victoria which had brown pleurocystidia and a mushroom that macroscopically resembles Ps.Subaeruginosa in NSW with hyaline cystidia - so if they are not the same species, they sure are pretty close.
Im hoping to gather as many dried specimens, sporeprints and cultivated specimens of each mushroom found to try and piece this together.

Some pics I forgot to put on...

this is looking over the patch, which corresponds to the 2nd photograh in the previous post,

This is out side the toilet block, the photo didnt come out at first.

Some young shrooms from the same patch.

This photo was supposed to be related with the smoking bit, a silly golden retriever came over and lay righ on ym bong cause I had covered it from the owners with my jacket and the water went everywhere

Went to the golfcoarse today and found some interesting psilos growing from grass.

Walking over to the edge of the slope where the mushrooms are situated.

Some Subs growing from grass.

Some wavyness going on here.

Standing on the rope bridge looking into the Tropical Jungle of Shroomz.

MMMMmmmmmm, Gabba-shroomz

OH MAN WHY DID I HAVE TO BE AWAY WHEN YOU POSTED THIS???? Noooooooooooooo

(gets up off floor, holding jaw.....)

hey aussieshroomhead: oh my god I just recognised that soccer field! It's where my local primary school went to have sports day (& that's bloody l-o-n-g time ago believe me...)

I spent my formative years crawling through that bush you see in the distance behind the ovals!!

....holy shit...i never thought to look there! (hits head with a small club.....)
I know it's quite a bit later now from when you first posted, but I wonder if there's anything still to be seen there, haha!???

wow.....can't believe I was so dumb not to think of it!

Woohoo! Well I HAD to go and have a look then didn't I!??

same park at dusk today...

holding those ones mentioned by aussie (i think) which are dried a bit & bleached...

two older ones (from when you saw them probably) and a couple of small...

and somewhat younger.....

this one's really blue-green, but quite dryish as they all are by this late stage.....

and I even found this one on the way home thru a bush walking track...dark by now....

and here you see the variety in age between them......

well I guess you can tell I was pretty damn excited!
.....and now thanks to aussieshroomhead I even know what to look for elsewhere and what kind of habitat, hehe...... WOW.......after so many months of fruitless looking too and there were some under my damn nose! *sigh*

.......but no bloody rain expected for a while up here tho......

Hey bm! it's funny that you only just told me the other day to 'go and find some psilos' and then whaddya know?! (even though its not MY find, exactly!)

thanks be to aussieshroomhead - he who knows where to look

I can see how that tree looks like a fallen log now in the second last pic! It's actually one of those types of fungi that you see growing on gum trees in layers sometimes - not psychoactive as far as I'd guess, but hell I don't know much. Sorry for that little confusion....I took the pic from above looking down the trunk!

As for the others - but were you saying the other day that even if they're pretty blued and dry they're still ok?? Or i could have read it wrongly......
