So obviously with cubes we want fast rhizomorphic growth because rhizomes support pin formation.

Of course with sclerotia-producing species we want fast growth as well, but does anybody know what class of mycelium supports the best sclerotia formation?

Just asking because I'll soon be streaking some plates with multispore and want to know what to look/select for.

You'll see sclerotia forming on the agar, so select a section of the dish that has several stones developing and drop it into your grain jar, rocks and all. In the picture below, each dish received two or three drops of solution from a multispore syringe. There is a nice zone of sclerotia forming in the left hand dish near the two o'clock position, and in the center dish at the 7 o'clock position. Those would be a good choices. The dish on the right developed few sclerotia and was discarded.
