Shroomery been belly belly good to me.

One thing that I have often heard here is that relationships formed or held on the internet are in no way as deep or real as those formed in person. I have not found that to be true. I'm a person who has very few deep friendships (by choice). I'm fairly picky and look for deep empathy and connection before committing myself to deep involvements. It doesn't happen very often and if you take love relationships out of the equation then it's even much rarer.
One of the best relationships I have formed has come from posting here at the Shroomery. It didn't exactly start off that way. In fact we went head to head over a very volatile issue and I considered this guy a meat head. But just maybe because we both kept posting (instead of walking away from each other with a vow to never interact with such a fool again) we had the chance to cool off and take in the other persons views and also the quality of their posting on other issues. In the end a solid empathic friendship formed without, I believe, our really being aware of it for a long time. Finally we met in person because they committed to traveling a couple of thousand miles to meet me. Now it's settled. We're family.
I've always(almost)considered the Shroomery, a valuable place to meet and interact with others and to make friends. I have a few here now that I love and care about. For the rest I have a more casual love and respect and the more I grow the more that is true about each person whether I agree with them or am strongly opposed to their views. I can honestly say that I have learned much about not taking things personally and about seeing each person here as someone who is doing their best to be happy and connect with others.
I wanted to share this. Next time you post with someone take a moment to realize that there is a real person behind those words. A person who is doing their very best to be happy using all the tools they have at their disposal at this moment. Today you might disagree with them and tomorrow find that you or they have turned a corner and found some real common ground and that all of us share a common humanity that is more alike then differing no matter how we express ourselves.
I have found that it has payed dividends for me to remember all the steps I have taken to get where I am today and remember if I were to meet my past self on a post I might just think I was some kind of an idiot.
The Shroomery has indeed been very very good to me.

I agree. I consider many of the shroomery members to be good friends, and I have met some of the most intelligent people I've ever known on this website. It's a good community for the most part.

I too gained a solid friend and brother here. We have much in common in this.
I think The Shroomery is an awesome monument to the psychedelic perspective and a great sounding board for assholes like myself who strive daily to understand truth.

Ahhh, Icelander and Hue, you lovebirds you. That made me smile
I too value the Shroomery. Im not close to anyone here, but I enjoy the conversation. Although I have many good friends where I live they are not into mushroom-related chat and the whole psychadelic scene; there's a lot of really good people here.

I mostly enjoy the Shroomery for its sweet emoticons.

I too share your sentiment about the Shroomery. In fact I was thinking about making a new post thanking the community here because everyone is so helpful. The perspectives put forth on this forum are refreshing and more often than not, enlighten the soul and calm the mind. In my experience there is a vast amount of knowledge spreading on this forum that, sadly, isn't being spread enough in my opinion. So I just wanted to thank everyone that has provided there input/links/helpful tips because really they do have an impact on anyone looking.
PS. There is so much love here it gives me hope! =]

I have a hate so foul and decadent that it transcends the very...oh wait, thats the other forum. You guys are all right. I suppose. One of these days the 'G' men will come down on us hard and we'll have to keep in contact by homing pigeons and running dogs, but until then, I guess the Shroomery will do.

What we need is a teacher to convince us that there is incalculable power at our fingertips. What a strange paradox! After my last acid trip, due to gross underestimation on my part of the importance of set and setting, I found myself essentially trapped in the second of Stanislav Grof's Perinatal Birth Matrices. With the help of Shroomerites like dblaney, Markos, Icelander, RGV, and Sinbad, I have been making steady progress, not only 'recovering' from that trip, physically and emotionally, but spreading my wings, so to speak, spiritually.
I think I still have a long way to go, but I'm thankful to have experienced and compassionate beings to share my trip with.

Icelander is the most conscious individual that I have met...much more than I could ever aspire to be, but it would be unlike him to make such a claim. However, I would put it forth in his behalf.
