Robots to be programmed with 'code of morals' so they won't attack humans
The next generation of 'intelligent' robots are to be programmed with a code of morals to ensure they do not attack humans.
Scientists have warned scenes straight from science fiction films in which machines turn on men were a real danger unless robots had built-in 'ethics' microchips.
Robots should also be fitted with prominent on-off buttons so humans can disable them in case of 'emergency', scientists said.
Experts in South Korea and Japan, where the latest thinking robots are being built, said the moral code for robots would be based on the Three Laws of Robotics created by science fiction writier Isaac Asimov in 1940.

I knew that Asimov's three laws would find their way into real robots someday... like other great sci-fi writers (such as Arthur C. Clarke), the ideas he integrated into his fiction are actually very good ideas for the real world as well.
Hell, the idea for a space elevator came from a sci-fi novel... some of these men are great inventors as well as literary masters.

Most of the early science fiction writers were intellectuals way ahead of their time. They didn't just come up with an idea and run with it, they considered every aspect and formulated a web of ideas around the subject as if it were reality in order to present it as close to reality and as logically as possible. I'm a fan of Asimov myself
A lot of the terms they coined a hundred years ago are being used today in reference to cutting edge technology. Robot, virtual reality, artificial intelligence..I know the list goes on and on but I can't seem to think of any more at the moment..

"i robot", i was being sarcastic. go to blockbuster and check it out. the robots take away every one's freedom to make sure they don't harm themselves or each other.

Every single possible flaw in the three laws was analyzed by Asimov himself, it's not like they're gonna discover something new to them. Those flaws are inherently found on any intelligent being, robots are still a long way from needing better laws than Asimov's.
Also, the 3 laws have been used for quite some time now on all kinds of robots...
BTW the film 'I robot' has NOTHING to do with Asimov's work, just so you guys don't take the film too seriously.
