According to you, Botany should be pronounced Bow-Tanny, while many people pronounce it Bought Anny.

well if you follow phonics long/short sounds etc you will find that #1 is incorrect.

The O is a short O. Pronunciation clip for botany and botanical from Merriam-Webster.
Bought-any and bought-anical respectively.
