Why the fuck are they still so anti-global warming? I watched that Al Gore episode again last night and I just don't get it. The show is usually right on target with their, "You know, I learned something today"'s, but why so ass backwards on global warming?
On another note the show is way past its prime. I chuckle, but nowhere near the hysterics some of the older epsiodes gave me.

Because global warming is a part of natural temperature cycles and humans aren't causing it. Global Warming = horesshit.

Your right, there are temp cycles and we aren't causing the temp cycles. We are contributing to increased temperature, to what extent is what is still being debated.

I guess we'll wait and see.
The downside potential is pretty fucking big though.

the makers actually consider themselves on the "conservative" side of the political spectrum, but are very liberal and open minded about most subjects. just because they have many ideas that seem fitting to you, doesn't mean all do.
global warming is still something questioned by many, nothing wrong with that, until its proven as a fact anyway. much of the research is biased at the moment.

It's the politicization of Global Warming that's the problem, we know it's happening but not to what extent and what effect we actually have on it.

that show hasn't been good for quite a few years, unfortunately. The first 3, maybe 4 seasons had it going on...then like every other good animated show, it became political

In what way did the Simpsons "become political"?
The Simpsons just became a victim of itself as Matt Groening became less and less involved, imo.

Sounds like someones been reading Michael Crichtons State of Fear. If you actually do your own research, you might come to a better conclusion.
From what I've heard and read and learned from a lot of sources, its a combination of earth's natural cycle, and our destructive treatment of the environment.
You have to be pretty fucking stupid to think that its JUST earths cycle, we are PRETTY destructive beings.

Unfortunate that you haven't enjoyed it. I don't understand why you would think the show stopped being funny six or seven seasons ago because it just keeps getting funnier and funnier. As they've developed the show, it's become more pointed social commentary. That doesn't mean it's "political". In fact, it's the antidote to politics. They actually say what they mean and have principles that are outpictured in the plot. South Park is one of the only effective social satires going that hasn't become a parody of itself.

There are many seemingly intelligent people who still question anthropogenic global warming, despite the widespread scientific agreement. I don't get it either, but I've given up trying to convince them.
