Yeah, all those sites are somewhat intriguing. There's seven links on http://symphonyofnoise.com/nails/yearzero/ that link to MP3's other than the three tracks from the album. As far as who is creating these pages, after following a couple links my guess is Erik Smith (http://symphonyofnoise.net/pgs/info.html) creates the sites along with Trent's input and maybe another writer for the text stuff but who knows. Who knows how much this story they're weaving is found on the new album.

As for the new album, or what i've heard of it so far, I'm really not impressed. Survivalism sounds like what he was doing on Broken almost 15 years ago, but not as good. My Violent Heart is just bad poetry with lo-fi cheesy noise underneath it. "Me, I'm Not" is a little better but there's really not much going on. It's like Trent has been regressing since after he released The Fragile. I thought The Fragile was pretty darn good, if not a little over-simplified and monophonic at times, back when I was 18 or so when it came out. With Teeth just wasn't good. The hand that feeds single sounded like an industrial version of that "Yeah, you really got me babe" song only worse. I don't know why he felt he had to strip all of his usually brilliant layering and developed noise out of it in favor of 80's drum machine sounding beats and crappy generic sounding synths. Maybe I just lost my taste for NIN.

I personally think he always did that. I found his first album to be so fucking silly sounding. Horrible stuff in my opinion. For industrial cabaret voltaire is mostly all i need

True, Pretty Hate Machine does sound cheesy as all hell for the most part. But later albums had some great textures on them. As far as "industrial", I pretty much only listen to some Einsturzende Neubauten and a little KMFDM or maybe some SKinny Puppy or Pigface now and then, also a bit of Ministry. Never did get into CV too much. What are your favorite CV recordings?

I heard a new NIN song on the radio titled "Survilvalism"

It wasn't good, it wasn't bad, but it was NIN.
