I prefer the chunky stuff. If you want it finer, crush it, a little.

Ive stumbled by accident onto some chuncky verm myself, 2-3 times as chunky as agar's. All I do is crumble it up, its not like its made of steel. No need to worry just improvise. Wear a mask when crumbling vermiculite though, just because!

Yep I sure do,never could understand why people make this harder on themselves than they need to,I'm not mixing up anything myself when there is readily available and inexpensive product that works for me,Hydrate it in Ph adjusted water, pasteurize and apply, simple as that I love that stuff

Not just because but rather *because* it is volcanic glass and breathing in powdered glass tends to be the _mildest_ (notice the sarcasm, please) irritant to the lungs.
Treat it like hot as hell peppers. Don't breath it in, don't rub it in your eyes and don't play with your dick afterwards until you've washed your hands thoroughly. Beyond that, it's pretty simple...

the chunkier verm. is the only kind i like using. i dont like the fine kind. and it does work well with cakes. im not sure why people prefer the fine kind. why is that?
the reason you should be careful when using vermiculite, even when pouring small amounts is because it has asbestos in it and it is very bad for you to inhale. the only major store that carries it in my area is Lowes, the rest have stop selling it.

the very fine stuff fit nicely in a 1/2 pint jar. try to scoop up 1/2 pint of the big chnky stuff compared to the fine suff. yo get in here because here is less air is taking up the space.
he only thing i've attempted to use it in was the vermiculite top layer of a jar or a casing layer

I like the fine Verm, i get it from homedepot. its easy to fill up jars and to me it colonizes faster, But the cakes are more solid, a little harder to break up, So i cut them like cucumbers.
this bag is 10.99[image][/image]
