What's your thoughts on this satyr?

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

He's a comedic genius in my opinion

I don't like him cause he won't let up on the shtick. He refuses to break character and soon it will consume him.

He does in serious interviews.....His show would fail if he wasn't in character, thats the beauty of his show.

sa·tyr (sā'tər, săt'ər)
n.
1. often Satyr Greek Mythology. A woodland creature depicted as having the pointed ears, legs, and short horns of a goat and a fondness for unrestrained revelry.
2. A licentious man; a lecher.
3. A man who is affected by satyriasis.
4. Any of various butterflies of the family Satyridae, having brown wings marked with eyelike spots.

I guess some of those may apply, or did my mean satirist?

Pretty good, almost as good as John Stewart.

Without a doubt, his ears are slightly pointed. Perhaps he's both a satyr and a satirist?

"Its a poor sort of memory that only works backwards"--Lewis Carroll

Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path . . . one that we must all take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass...
Gandalf: ...And then you see it.
Pippin: What, Gandalf? See what?
Gandalf: White shores . . . and beyond. A far green country, under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: Well, that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: [Softly:] No... No it isn't.

That part about him gets a little too intense and weird for me. I like him in small doses though. 30 minutes straight is too much for me, because without the break in character, he does end up looking more pyscho then funny.

( suprised the shroomery doesn't have a Colbert greamlin by now)

I love John Stewart.

:peace:

You should watch "The Word" segment more often, he does "break character" from time to time during it.

I think it's funny how so many people think he's serious (probably half the reason he was invited to speak at the White House press banquet last year). You guys should watch the movie "Man on the Moon", which is about another deadpan comedian in the 70's (Andy Kaufman) who raised similar controversies over his comedic style which people took literally.

ilove Colbert too. His "character" is what the show is all about. i think it would ruin the whole thing if he broke character.

His old show "Strangers with Candy" is pretty damn funny too. Check it out, it's on DVD.

they needed to make the Colbert Report to balance out with the daily show. they are both great shows. Steven colbert is really funny with that character of ultra-conservative type
