Tyvek band-aid storage
    #6457847 - 01/14/07 07:58 AM (17 years, 2 months ago)

I was thinking about jar preparation and the Tyvek band-aid method. It seems inefficient to pack your jar, cut Tyvek squares, tape them on, and repeat. I though it would be better to make a bunch of band-aids and have them all ready to go, but didn't know how to store them untill i needed them. This is what i came up with.

make your band-aids and put them on wax paper, vegetable parchment paper, or even a sheet of Tyvek. You can store them this way for an extended period of time untill you need them.

A vendor who has alot of free time and patience could even ship them this way!

Yeah, I like to do a layer of micropore tape on the outside and then one on the inside so that the grains don't get stuck to the tape. I've tried the tyvek band-aid method you mentioned and found it to be way to time consuming and I didn't notice any difference one way or the other in relation to to the tyvek.

If you use a two (2) hole lid, with tyvek micropore band-aids.
You can recycle the lids, without doing them over.
Always inoculate in one (1) hole.
Then tape that hole over w/alc dipped tape.

Next use, inoculate through the side that was inoculated before.
And, tape it over again.

Next use, do same AGAIN.
so on & so forth.
