Pin Pin Plz Pin

I have had my casing in for almost 2 weeks and no pinning. I have 12hr light cycles, 3-4 fans a day, 70-75 degrees, 95-98% humidity. Could there be anything missing? The mycelium is thick but not overlay thick. I have noticed that the casing has shrunk a little and separated from the pan, is this a problem. Any reccomendations are appreciated.

You'll ahve to describe your casing procedures before anyone can help much. A pic would be nice too.
Is it coir? Coir sucks as a casing.

I think I put a quarter inch of moist vermiculite at the bottom, one inch of colonized substrate crumbled from jars, and about a 1/2 inch of horse manure/straw. It colonized all the valleys in a week so I put it in the fruiting chamber. I'll try to get a pic later.

The verm at the bottom may actually be pulling moisture OUT of the substrate. It's not really recommended.
hpoo is not a casing material; it should have been mixed with the colonized substrate not layered. It's also a pretty thin substrate all together so don't expect too much.

I have had a few ppl ask me about layering like this I think we need to figure out where everyone is getting this idea and erase it

I thought I saw to layer it in one of the faq's? Anyways, is the shrinking away from the pan normal or is that a sign of dehydration? Because it's layered is it going to take longer?

Just wanted to speed read everything again to be useful to the community. Thanks for all that you guys do!

Coir sucks as casing? What kind of casing do you prefer? (you ASS!)
Or do you just mean that it sucks as casing material when used by itself?

Coir rocks as a substrate to make a casing, than case it with moisture control

There ya have it.
If you gotta use coir use like a 75verm/25coir, and at least oyster shell, maybe hydrated lime for Ph.
Moisture Control Potting Mix is by far the easiest way to go for a casing. Look it up.
Look up 'Spawning to coir' also. You wont regret it. Buy some gypsum (cheap as hell)

Ok so what do I need to do?
1. Will it eventually pin or is the casing done for? 2. The mass is shrinking and pulling away from the tray, is this normal or dehydration?

It MIGHT pin. Shrinkage usually happens after one or two flushes anyways from dehydration and i guess break down of all the food stuff too. Its prolly shrinking so fast thanks to the verm on the bottom pulling out moisture even if it was moist verm.
