1/2 Pint too small for WBS?
    #6431186 - 01/06/07 01:28 PM (17 years, 2 months ago)

I have a bunch of 1/2 pint jars previously used for the pf-tek. I have filled a few pint Jars I have with WBS but most of my jars are 1/2 pint which I would like to use. Would WBS work or should I just use verm/brf and case those?

also another side question. On a 9x13 pan how many 1/2 pint BRF/verm cakes should I crumble up to fill the pan?

you will just need a whole bunch of them to do much, because you have to leave room to shake, and they are already tiny. i would go pick up some quart widemouths

i've made grain spawn in a test tube, so no, a half pint isn't too small.

but as mentioned above you'll need a bunch which gets tedious and annoying, considering a quart jar is 4 times the size and will colonize in just about the same amount of time. spend the 7 bucks or whatever on a case of quarts, or at least full pints depending on what you can fit in your PC. but, if you must re-use your current jars, its totally doable.

as to how many you need, that's a vauge question. 9x13.... yeah, how deep? are you spawning (mixing) the WBS in with anything once its colonized?

to figure out how much you need in any case, is grade school math.

HxWxL in inches yields cubic inches.

one quart contains 57.75 cubic inches. (or, ask google... "X cubic inches to quarts" in the search box, and get a conversion. will allow you to conver pints/half pints/quarts/whatever you want too.)

damn creamcorn, the test tube thing is an awesome idea for grain to grain transfer of something along those lines. I'll deff. try this soon.

Remember a little more spawn is better than not enough,God I can only imagine what a pain in the ass it would be to make enough spawn with 1/2 pints

Use quart jars for WBS spawn.
They are the boss.
Size does MATTER.
