Well its been over a year now since i first started on the long and challenging path of the amateur mycologist. Its been a bumpy ride but looking back, I've loved every minute of it. All the failures from which to learn, all the minutes spent obsessively thinking about the damn jars progress. I have a select few of you to thank for the abundance of advice and knowledge thats helped me and so many others along the way. You know who you are So, tar very much .
I think I've finally got it. Everything is coming together nicely. (apart from the first pic which has a small case of the cob web mold. Tis being treated with peroxide and is in isolation).
23rd
Updates daily so don't go far. ---------------------------------
Updates! harrar!
24th
The isolated one (blue tub) seems to have overlayed some what in parts, the rest is looking mighty fine with no signs of Mr cobweb.
Not long now. excitement!
----------------------------------
25th Happy Holidays.
Having a little trouble initiating pinning it seems. The average day time temp here if 30C+ . hopefully things will turn out alright.
--------------------------------
26th
Any day now. --------------------------------
27th
Now, should water droplets be sitting on the over colonized casing in the white tray or is this a worry? i stopped misting two days ago because of it yet it still hasn't evaporated or the myc drunk it up. Any clues to whats going on here?
--------------------------------------
28th
Is it too late to patch?
-----------------------------------
29th
we've got primordia!
Blue tubs in the lead. From here on is the most rewarding part of this hobby on so many levels. Its truly ace.

mmk, I do the usual 24 hour soak then half hour simmer. Let it drain and steam evaporate dry since its still fecking hot from the simmer. This takes about 20 minutes. Load up jars.
Lids have one, 1cm hole stuffed with polyfill and one inoc hole. I inoc 1cc of spore solution down the side of the glass. Incubate in a tit at 84F/30C. Six days or so later they look a little like these. Couple more days and they'll get a shaking.
The one on the left was knocked up on the 6th, shaken on the 13th and its still not done 100%. The other eight were cased as above on the 18th and placed straight into fruiting conditions since the average temp this time of year is in the 80/90F's.
