Mycorrhizal cultivation - morels and chanterelles

Hey people.
I went to Borough Market yesterday (best place in London to get gourmet mushrooms and every other gourmet food you can think of), to Booth's Mushrooms and he had a whole plethora of different 'wild' mushrooms still available - chanterelles, pied de mouton, black trumpets and porcini.
Anyway, what interested me was that I asked him for 1 1/2 kg of mixed wild mushrooms he said they weren't wild as the season for wild mushrooms is over, that they were all cultivated (apart from the porcini). I was under the impression that they hadn't worked out how to cultivate Mycorrhizals yet. Has the situation changed?
is it like with the truffles, inoculating tree seedlings roots and planting them? would be interested to know if there's anywhere that sells chanterelle trees, as I know you can get truffle trees.
Also, was interested to know if anyone's managed to grow an outdoor patch of morels here? would love to see pictures.

my guess is he's just wrong, although you'd think he would know where they came from...

Here is a link to the US pattants on Mycorrhizal cultivation. It would be good to know how many worked out?

yeah, i doubt that any of those species were cultivated. some lucky people have had success with tuber and picoa species, but as for boletus, cantharellus or craterellus highly unlikely. many of the mentioned species need strict habitat and environmental factors, along with a healthy diversity of microflora. some species could take up to 15 to 20 years before giving fruit.

had a little hunt online last night, couldn't find a single place that cultivated them (figures ). BUT, in France there are some people that freeze them, then sell them packaged, so I reckon that's what they are...because they are out of season. Cause you can't get chanterelles and porcini anymore can you?

Do a search here. We recently had a member get a chanterelle patch going after only a year or two.
There are several morel patents out for cultivation. RR

I don't know about the UK, but in the USA we can get morels year round now thanks to a company in Michigan. I know it's old news, but here is more info if anyone wants to check it out: Biotech brings mushroom hunt indoors
