You do not pressure cook wheat, straw, dung, ect...

10 psi is fine for pf jars. Just leave them at 10 psi for 2 hours and youll be fine.

Wheat yes, dung and straw are pasteurized only.

2. im going to cook 5, 1/2 pint jars of brf/verm how long should i cook it i know at 15 psi it's 45 minutes but what about 10psi
1 hour should be plenty.

If Anno says 1 hour is plenty then Im sure it is. I just didnt want you to get contaminates your first time and get discouraged.

If this is your first time and you have a pressure cooker then I am sure that you will do fine. PC for 1 hour like everybody says but be very careful...just recently I was cooking a few quarts of rye for 1 hour and I guess that I didn't have a lot of water in there and I was sitting here typing a post when I heard the PC stop steaming...I turned it off and move it to a different element and let it cool down to 0 PSI and then shook it normally....moral of the story: put enough water in there!

this isn't my first time growing just my first pressure cooker

I sterilized many batches by boiling:

For all you noobs==> (boiling works great i had a less than 5% failure rate using brf/verm but you can get a pressure cooker like mine for only 20$ at wally-mart)

I want to move on to grains but i figured i'd try out my PC first using the tried and true brf/verm

(grains are what i meant not wheat, straw ect...) sorry, i was tired when writing the post

but i went and looked at the FAQ again and anwered my own question about pressure cooking grains

thanks for the info people

i just posted about the wally world PC in another thread-

they work great a few times-the metal changes shapes on the small ones-that are $20-when the do this and then cool-it almost makes impossible to get a good seal for pressure next time
but hey for only 20 bucks, they are kinda disposable-and if yours only holds 5 jars-you have the tall skinny jars(the wrong kind-lol)i had those jars and this cooker-5 was a very tight fit-am i right?the short skinny jars will hold 3 on bottom and 3 on top-so 6 instead of 5-and they are alot faster than the tall skinny half pints(decorative jars-am i wrong )
i would suggest trying to find these jars instead-they work way better with the cooker you bought
its the *MIRRO* brand right?
