I need to pick up a new book on my way to my night job - anyone read this? Just looking for some feedback on it.

A great book with many, many trip reports in it. Mainly they are condensed certain experiences. Very good book that I would highly recommend.

Also check this one out. I haven't read the one you're referencing, but Tripping is real cool. It just has a bunch of trip reports written by individuals synonymous with psychedelics.

OMR, it is an excellent book. I own both the one just mentioned and Hallucinogens: A Reader
Another great read as well. Never read the one you mentioned in the first post.

Dude, The Varieties of Psychedelic Experience is the first book on psychedelics I ever read, like 10 years ago and it really got me to realize that at one time these drugs were considered worthy of investigation by mainstream medical science and psychology. I was just thinking about it last night looking at it sitting on on my bookshelf while tripping on some 4-ho-dipt. I need to re-read that book, it's an old friend.

I recommend this one over Hallucinogen: A Reader. Both are great books but Varieties is really a classic in the field. If you haven't read it, get out there and do it.
Varieties is just what the title implies, many different types of experiences. It will really teach you some things about the psychedelic experience.

Varieties is pretty cool in how they piece together a map of the psychedelic experience and the mind. I think that book is probobly one of the most integral reads concerning the different layers of a psychedelic trip. The only other one that I think has as much to offer if not more is LSD Psycotherapy by Stanislav Grof. Actually they both complement each other very well.

I just lent this book to dBlaney last night. I think its ok. Just ok because its written from a really scientific viewpoint from the 50's I believe. I dont htink the authors really experimented with it. There are some good trip reports, alot of speculation the more negative aspects of it... not spiritual enough for me i guess, but you would alteast get a few beneficial things from it. peace
