filter patch bags...
    #6349024 - 12/08/06 07:42 PM (17 years, 4 months ago)

I've been thinking about trying out filter patch bags for the first time... Are there filter patch bags that don't need a sealer to close them? if so, which ones are they and which of our sponsors sell them?

Agar was actually looking into a spawn bag with a zip lock top on it, but I guess is wasn't cost worthy to produce. Although it would have been hella cool!

I know some Shroomerites use wire to tie off their bags.

Tooling costs were so high, I did not do it.
I could spend $20K in better places.

HOWEVER,

The manufacturer of autoclave bags that vendors sell.

Not long ago came up with an autoclavable BAG CLAMP.

(patent pending & all rights reserved to him)

I would think, some vendor will be stocking these.

Sooner than later.

I did a search for bag clamps and came a cross these

They're probably not PC'able but you could clamp your bags right out of the pressure cooker with no problems I'm sure.

Agar these look alot like the clamps in your pic. That manufacture might be out of luck when it comes to patenting.

if you are creative you can use all sorts of stuff to "seal" your bags

i used clamps intended to seal little bags u put into your freezer,
just fold it over properly and clamp it.
so far no contams !

so speaking of bags...

sporeworks offers 25 for $11.95

mycofactory offers 20 for $14.95

I remember seeing something online about unicorn bags...
are these the same product and just a different retailer?
