My friend wants to experience ego-loss

My friend is looking to voluntarily experience ego-loss.
I recommended taking an 8th and a half (5gs or so correct?) and then crawl in bed with the lights out and see what happens.
I am basically looking for any other tips/suggestions/do's/don'ts etc for this. He has done mushrooms a couple times before and has had fantastic times on them. But I tried to explain to him that the most beautiful and profound experiences happen during bad trips/spiritually challenging ones.
Just looking for some helpful advice here
All comments welcome.

thanks, yeah, i was planning on trip sitting with him, maybe sit outside in the living room where i can hear him in his room if things get too terrible for him. but i also feel like true ego-loss comes when you don't have anyone else to rely on for help, just have to sit through it with you, yourself and your mind

Sounds like you've got a plan. "5 dried grams in silent darkness." Terrence McKenna.
If you want to go to extremes, build an isolation tank. Floating in salt brine will take away the feeling of being in a body. You can hallucinate without any drugs that way.

Don't know. Never did it. But its really just salt water. At 60 °F (15.5 °C) saturated brine is 26.4% salt by weight. So it would be a matter of calculation and buying salt.

IF you wanna amplify a trip and/or give it a spiritual vibe sensory deprivationis the way to go. Just fill a tub up with about a foot of warm water and lay down once you feel the trip going somewhere. Not really recommended without a sitter.
Kundalini type medition kicks ass when you're taking off too. AS does brainwave entrianment. THeta waves have some interesting effects. The schumann resonance is pretty cool. this is the resonance frequency of the Earth's magnetic field, making it a very natural meditation frequency.

Tell your friend to forget everything he has been thought, ... Even language! Anything he may identify with,...
Let go of the concept, of letting go of!

"Let go of the concept, of letting go of! "
Heh, this has a shit load of insight into what it take to have a radical trip. Imagine your mind as a blank slate that is willing to accept whatever the mushies have to show you. The more you reduce your expectations and simply accpet that the mushrooms have a purpose in each trip the more likely you are to have some mind lowing experiences. THis also increasesthe likelness that once you return to base you will retain the insight of the trip voyage. (Hence the efficacy of sensory deprivation)

to increase the sensory deprivation, perhaps use a blindfold and earplugs or something?

weight isn't so much important as in "Letting go"
swim has had ego loss on a half g other night, and many other times.
But 5g is always fun as well , just not necessary.
Does he need to be forced???? Learn to meditate (always said swim knows)
Forget your body and breathe. Start by letting the music take you away. and go from there.
Headphones and blind fold (mindfolds are nice) is a great deprivation technique.

swim finds "the comfort zone" to be the best place.
You don't want to have any worries outside of yourself, it will become more difficult to let go, especially if you don't know how as of yet.
set/setting set/setting- peace.
