Pc and stove problem
    #6307181 - 11/28/06 09:59 AM (17 years, 4 months ago)

Ok for a birthday / Christmas present my mom bought us a new stove, our old one was on it's way out.

Now I was not in the country up till yesterday and came home to a brand new stove  After  took a closer look I realized it was a ceramic stove top  :hissyfit:

After reading up on my pressure cookers warning (AA930) it says do not use with ceramic stoves.....

My question is besides getting a new stove what can I do?

Get a hot plate from a used restaraunt supply store.

Thank you RR I didn't think that a store bought hot plate be enough heat or surface area

I'm not a huge fan of hot plates at all. It takes me about 2 hours to get up to pressure using a 22 quart PC on a single burner hot plate. The warning for the ceramic stove tops is more or less generated from the heat transference and possible weight that may crack the glass. I can tell you from experience that my 22 quart Mirro does beautifully on my glass top stove. Just use it on the large burner and you should be okay.

Most "hot plates" are just that, for getting & keeping things hot.
Most are to low in watts & not sturdy enough to handle an AA 930.
AA 930 empty weighs far more than a Mirro 22 qrt PC.
Full, an AA 930 is far heavier.

The stove top warning is for a reason.
Plus, if the new stove F/U, warranty will be VOID.

Restaurant grade hot plates are not exactly cheap.
But, work just like a stove top.
Used ones can often be found on ebay.

In a pinch, a Coleman white gas camp stove will work.

If you still have the old stove & have a garage.
Install it there.
