Newbie needs help with ID on Texas shrooms...
    #629995 - 05/14/02 06:03 AM (21 years, 11 months ago)

Found these the other night after a heavy rain. I am thinking they are cubes, but I am not sure. They were growing near a creek that runs up through a golf course. There was no manure around but grass and soil are very fertile because of the golf course I think. What caught my curiosity is the bluing. I'm not sure if you can from the photos, but the gills are turning a light blue color as they dry. They have been drying for about a day now. Thanks for your help in advance : )

Peace,

Bobby

Those might be an agaricus or a Stropharia, They look a liitle the color of cubensiswhen dried but the gills never turn blue in Psilocybe species. The spores are generally chocolate brown to purple brown. When fresh the cap is a goper color often drying to a straw yellow.

Although I have had many cubies dry to that color the stems would be whitish with blue stains on them
