Blue Amanitas Berkshire Mountains
    #6253653 - 11/06/06 01:37 PM (17 years, 4 months ago)

I read something online talking about the mysterious blue amanitas of the Berkshire Mountains. There is a pic, but the caption says that the pic was photo-shopped by this old mycologist dude. What's your guys' opinion? Real or fake?

I could probably make my var formosa pics look the same way with the lasso selection tool. After being selected, just edit the overall coloration of the selected area to be of the blue hue.

You would think if they grew in patches with that many mushrooms more people would find them. Most likely a hoax fro sure.

Not exactly sure which method Amatoxin used on it, but I have made similar edits by using the lasso selection tool in photo editing programs to select just a certain area of a picture.

It's basically like tracing the outline of the cap. It would be pretty simple to just get the cap portion of the mushroom in a photo selected. You would probably have to zoom in to be able to trace the whole thing good. After that area is selected you can adjust the color of it. It will still keep the same shadowing and lighting, but just edit the hue of colors.

This is not the best job, but I did it quick... only spent a minute on it. Made it blue-green.

I did it in a similar way eris described.

Selected the Pileus using the lasso selection tool and then selected image - adjustments- Hue/Saturation & then messed around with the different properties

The green ones always taste better...

What a little beauty!!!

Te hee

If I saw this in real life I'd begin to question if I'd taken one too many drugs. It would be cool to start a hoax though, hmmm.

This is pretty much how I made all my coloured electron microscope pictures, although I only managed to pull the rainbow off in one, even though I tried(a lot). Normally it just looks like you stuck a rainbow in there, so not the best colouring option.

Nice. It seems like it would take a lot of work. I really liked those colored microscope pics.

Look at this, I made the yellow muscaria red. It looks real since there really is a red muscaria, how would anyone know it was even fake if I didnt say anything?

There are ways to tell, (but I dont know what they are) . I think photoshop leaves some very clear symptoms that experts can pick up.

I remember there was a big argument over this video being fake...
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="
></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I dont really see how someone thought it was faked, I suppose they assumed the subject matter too amazing to be real.

Edit how the funk do you get to embed videos?
