is to be what you truly are. (to be your real "self")
Regardless of the opinions of others.

would sacrificing your life to save another life be the most selfless thing you could do?

It's also the most selfish which is not a bad thing.
It's the healtiest thing one can do and the most healing and the most interesting and the most fun and the most real.
And this is my 10,000th post.

What are the motives, besides saving the life, of this person?
Back in the day, I always hoped for a scenario where I could risk my life, probably for fame, appreciation, self gratification, etc.
In that case, not so selfless?

well, in the end does it matter what you sacrifice yourself for, as long as you save another from dying?
i was thinking along the lines of unconditional love for the other to save them and let them experience the love of life...but maybe i am just a idealistic hippy

I think it matters a bit when you jump out in traffic to save another, while still hoping that you don't get killed...only for the reasons listed above.
In that case, sure you were willing to step out in traffic for another, but it wasn't for unconditional love of the person(who could be a total stranger).
It's a little more selfish if anything.
But me being a "idealistic hippy" myself, I'd totally save someone for them to experience the joy of life, while taking my own.
But just now, I'm thinking how bad I'd feel in the afterlife if I knew I saved a serial killer or something.

That's up to you.
In the wisdom of the moment, is it the will of your self?
If it is motivated by fear or selfishness, then keep looking. This is not the self I'm talking about.

Exactly. So we agree?
If it is motivated by nothing other then wanting them live and you willing to sacrifice your life for it...very selfless to me

It doesn't matter who agrees with you if you've found yourself.

Idealistic hippy is a good thing man....hahahahaha....I am a strong proponent of running your own agenda.....with adjustments to fit (at times) into the professional world...duality....or schizophrenia?
