One cake grows faster then the other?

one out of 6 cakes is has sprouted mushrooms before the other even have had a chance to pin. is there anyway to balance out the growing process among all 6 cakes? thankyou

NOt really. They usually will always vary a little. I think a lot depends on how tight you pack the substrate and how much spores are inoculated into the jar.

In part this is probably due to using a multi-spore inoculation (spore syringe). One way to avoid this would be to clone one of the better growing shrooms using a liquid culture.

This can be done quite easily using this Tek:

Once you successfully clone you will see more consistent pinning as well as faster colonization times.

Oviously you can fruit cakes. Try casing. you can use 3-6 PF jars per casing or try your hand in grains.
