when you chase something it runs away
    #6229920 - 10/31/06 07:03 AM (17 years, 4 months ago)

Anyone else ever noticed that when you chase after something, it gets further away, and as soon as you dont want it, it shows up? This has happened to me so many times, and ive heard other people have the same thing happen.. it seems to be a pretty stable law of earth life. So why hasnt it been talked about more.. ok the way i see it is, if by chasing after something, it makes it go further away, cant we also effect things in the opposite way? It seems like it could be pretty powerful. So what do you guys think?

A civilization based on authority-and-submission is a civilization without the means of self-correction. Effective communication flows only one way: from master-group to servile-group. Any cyberneticist knows that such a one-way communication channel lacks feedback and cannot behave "intelligently."

the principle of authority" was the "eminently theological, metaphysical and political idea that the masses, always incapable of governing themselves, must submit at all times to the benevolent yoke of a wisdom and a justice, which in one way or another, is imposed from above."
"no one should be entrusted with power, inasmuch as anyone invested with authority must . . . became an oppressor and exploiter of society."

yes, deffinately. especially when it comes to women

I think alot of it is in our heads as well though. Its the nature of desire, and bitterness playing tricks in our head.

Did you know that, once you've caught the thing your chasing, you realize you really didn't want it after all?

this is the looking glass world effect
you seem to need to go backwards to go forwards

actually it is endemic to all associative mental processes.
the image in mind includes both the object of concern and the distance between (the relations)

mentally re-associating with the image (memory recall) of object implies re-associating with the image of the distance as well:

attempting to escape a daemon for instance, restarts the daemon, the associated proximity is restarted as well.
attempting to reach a faraway goal, restarts the goal and the associated distance is restarted as well.

the part and the whole are connected as one image or gestalt in memory
any simple mental action is essentially associative.

Yes, in complexity, there seems to be some general anti-cause that is inherent in every cause.
It matters which side you are on.

Haha, yeah this is pretty much my life story...

Just this morning my bf was playing video games and it kept freezing on him in the same spot. Then I was jokingly saying "Just give up, its gonna freeze again on you, its gonna freeze..watch" Hes like "Why would you say that?" "Well because everytime we want something it never works out so I figure if I don't it'll work out" Lol and it didn't freeze. I thought it was funny.

redgreenvines brought up an interesting theory...kind like placebo huh?

Interesting...gotta think on that more.

That is why I do not chase. I stalk.

When you chase something with the right intention, it gets closer. By the power of our minds, we can draw in things around us with a 'sort of magnetic mental field'
When I chase my dreams, if I am not focused, or 100% there mentally, I will fall short.

When I am being chased by something in my dreams, the instict is to run away, but the more and more mature I come, the easier it is to stand and fight..

Stand and fight, don't run.
Focus while running towards goals.
