Disaster? Girlfriend accidentally knocked over terrarium!
    #6183617 - 10/18/06 06:37 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

My girlfriend just knocked over my terrarium - packed as it was with 7 pinning cakes and my first casing that was fruting marvelously with huge specimens. All the cakes now have perlite stuck to them, and the casing has chunks of perlite on its surface. Many of the pins are already bruising blue. Some of the fruits on the casing were knocked loose, so I picked them (they were almost ready to go anyway).

I rinsed off the cakes in a frenzy of panic...and am now wondering if I shouldn't have done that...any advice on the cakes, and what to do with the globs of perlite stuck to the surface of the casing?

weepingly,
jash

Rinsing them off was fine.  You'll want to do that between flushes anyway when you dunk. Remove the damaged pins because they won't recover, but the undamaged ones will still continue to grow. It's not going to hurt much in the long run, but don't tell her that.  Let her feel the guilt so she can make it up to you later.

Thanks people! Will make sure to keep the guilt vibes going for just a little longer!  :naughty:

One question remains, though - what about the chunks of perlite on the casing surface? Should I have my GF remove the chunks as part of her penance, or should I just put the casing back in the terrarium?
bestest,
jash
