north korean nuclear test confirmed
    #6180138 - 10/17/06 07:42 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/politics/15774143.htm

and it looks like they may be getting ready to try another one:

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/world/20061017-1632-koreas-nuclear.html

i gotta say i'm a little pissed. the bush administration has had 6 years to do something about this, but instead they've been too busy not spreading stable democracy or seizing wmd's in iraq, and not capturing osama bin laden or defeating the taliban in afghanistan to bother with the north koreans. whoops. hey rumsfeld and friends, looks like you started the wrong war... twice!

I was reading in the paper that N Korea has maybe 6-8 nukes. They already blew one up. If my math is right that leaves them with 5-7 nukes. If they blow up another one that should leave them with 4-6 nukes. The way I see it everytime they blow one of those things up in the bottom of some mine shaft, they lose a very large percentage of their potential nuclear arsenal. I hope they do 6 more tests. It'll leave them with nothing. They'll just run out of aces. LMAO.

Don't you think that we are a little responsible for pushing N. Korea to try to develop nukes? I mean they figure that we take Iran seriously because they have the bomb. Plus we put them on the Axis of Evil hit list.

is anyone else a little worried that North Korea might give Iran their nuclear technology in order to speed things along and add more pressure to the US government? Didn't all the countries that the US government is openly hostile towards have some kind of summit discussing strategy in the face of regime changes or some such shit? That sort of makes them allies right?

> Don't you think that we are a little responsible for pushing N. Korea to try to develop nukes?

Nope, not in the slightest.  Kind of like accusing a woman at a rape trial for leading on the rapist...

> is anyone else a little worried that North Korea might give Iran

Nope, Iran doesn't need anything that NK could offer.  Iran's program is much more advanced and "real/professional" (can't think of a better word) than NK's program.

> I take that back Iran is 10-15 year from the bomb.

Iran is a couple of months from a bomb, if they wanted (given fuel).  And it would be one that worked on the first try, in the twelve KT range.

> Iran has the bomb?

Not yet.  I doubt Iran will ever actually admit to having bombs once they create them.  Well, they may make claims, but they won't test.

> I hope they do 6 more tests. It'll leave them with nothing.

If I am correct, then their fuel is worthless, and none of their bombs will work until they properly breed more fuel.  However, this is a huge guess on my part that is not based off of any of the conversations I have had with old friends.

Thats a disgusting analogy. it's nothing like accusing a rape victim of leading her attacker.  The U.S named NK as part of the "axis of evil" considering the US invasion of that other "axis" state Iraq, I think NK had valid reason to develop a nuclear deterrent against U.S invasion.

So is your position that NK wasn't working on developing nuclear weapons prior to that statement by Bush?

Or is your position that even if they were working on developing nuclear weapons prior to that statement they would have abandoned the program had Bush not made the statement?

Or is your position that they were working on developing nuclear weapons before Bush made the statement but after he made it they worked even harder?

If that woman hadn't dressed like a slut, then I wouldn't have been excited, and wouldn't have forced her to have sex.

If the US hadn't called NK evil, then NK would be a model country for peace and understanding, and wouldn't have been forced to test a nuclear bomb.

The only reason the analogy is disgusting is because it is correct.

The U.S hasn't been raped or assulted in an way shape or form. you're anaolgy is just cheap hype.

So is your position that NK wasn't working on developing nuclear weapons prior to that statement by Bush?

---No, NK has always been a nutcase nation, nukes have always been their ambition.

Or is your position that even if they were working on developing nuclear weapons prior to that statement they would have abandoned the program had Bush not made the statement?

---- No, your question is silly.

Or is your position that they were working on developing nuclear weapons before Bush made the statement but after he made it they worked even harder?

That is my position.

So, it's Bush's fault that NK has nukes now instead of in months, years, or another undetermined time in the future?

I'm simply far from surprised that NK has exploded a bomb at this time considering the pugilist nature of the current U.S administration.

Okay.

So, in your opinion, if Bush had not made that statement, how much later would the Norks have held their first nuke test? A year? Two years? More?

In your opinion, would it make any difference at all if they had tested their first device in 2007 or 2008 rather than in 2006?

Note that I am not agreeing with your position. Just asking why you think a year or two would make a damn bit of difference.

Six nukes are a lot, especially if they're "salted" so that they will contaminate the area for decades.
