I wrote this one in my Eastern Religion class last week...
When you are something you are nothing When you understand everything you are nothing When you see nothing you are something with everything
You are. Be.
See that these are not. Neither are those. Be still. Let your mind be. Exist.
-------------------- "You must be the change you want to see in the world." - The trip of a Life Time. Indra's Net - There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe. The horizontal threads are in space. The vertical threads in time. At every crossing of threads there is an individual. And every individual is a crystal bead. The great light of absolute being illuminates and penetrates every crystal being, And every crystal being reflects not only the light from every other crystal in the net, But also every reflection of every reflection throughout the universe. -cK

Here is an excellent one.
It is the 8th case from "The Gateless Gate" or Mumonkan and it allows for a little bit of logical thinking as opposed to the other completely non-sensical Koans from the hekiganroku, or the shoyuroku.
Without further adieu:
Master Getten said to a monk: "Keichu made a cart whose wheels had a hundred spokes. Take both front and rear parts away and remove the axle: then what will it be?
Mumon's Commentary: If you can immediately see through this, your eye will be like a shooting star and your spirituality like lightning.
Mumon's Poem: When the vividly working wheel turns even an expert is lost. Four directions, above and below: south, north, east, and west.
Have fun

No koan is non-sensical. Maybe it's not the koan, but the reader (no offense, please) EDIT: What i mean is, on one level, yes, some are paradoxical, but a sign of psychological maturity is the ability to comprehend paradox.

It is not the clay that makes the pot useful but the emptiness it surrounds.
-------------------- Men look at themselves and they see flawed humans, we look at women and we see perfect GODDESSES Women look at themselves and they seem utterly human, when looking at men they see proud GODS. ~Casil

All koan are non-sensical. That is the very nature of the koan. What I mean by non-sensical is that with most koan, you cannot think about it to understand. Understanding comes only from thinking the koan itself. With this particular one, it allows some degree of logical thinking to understand, therefore making it a great "wedge".
