Just wating it out would work fine.
Or if your really impatient, just drill a hold below your water level, put a pan there, let is drain to the level of the hole. Then tape the hole.

Is there a reason you can't set the cakes on a table, then just tip the tub and dump out the water? RR

I have a windsheild washer fluid tank pump (similar to most pond water pumps but much smaller and uses less volts) and my first failed attempt to grow I used it to suck some of the water out of the tub in tub just to test if it would be useful in the future of my hobby.. I've found it's much more fun to pin in the back window of my car and shoot water at innocent bystanders.. and people with convertables at stoplights.. and just about anything and everything I envy or hate.. and.. well you get the point good luck

Turkey baster works quick and easy just make a space in the perlite and water will be easily drawn out.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Roger Rabbit, I didn't know if taking them out would be a contam risk or affect them by the humidity change, but I will do this if needed.
