http://stores.ebay.com/THE-SQUIRREL-CAGE-BLOWER-STORE I was wondering if those type of blowers are suitable for a LFH.I have read a bit on it and have not seen a real answer on how much is too much when it comes to CFM.Now I would imagine that these cfm ratings are at zero SP and I have sent a n email t the guy asking bout any info or a data sheet he might have, but is there any way what so ever to estimate what the cfm would be at 1" SP?I was thinking bout using a 30 x 24 " hepa so that would be 500 cfm (i think ) that I would want at 250 pascal.Well just thought id share the link seems like a pretty good deal to me.
P.S. RR or anyone else who knows about such things - what does WC refer too I keep seeing thigs rated at a specific WC and I hae no clue if it another term for static pressure or if it can be converted somehow.as always thanks for any help in advance

Static pressure is rated in 'inches of water column' (WC). Imagine if you took a clear plastic hose and bent it into a U shape and filled it half way to the top with water. If you hooked one end of the U to the plenum behind your filter, 1" WC would cause the water on one side of the hose to be pushed down 1", while the other side would go up 1".
The reason we want static pressure is to even out the flow on the front side where we are working. By having pressure behind the filter, the flow out the front side is uniform, so there is no turbulence.
A 30 X 24 filter has 5 square feet of area. You want between 100 and 150 lineal feet per minute leaving your filter, so 500 CFM would not be quite enough because there will be losses due to turns and friction, turbulence, etc., between the blower and the filter.
I'd suggest for that size filter a blower with a CFM rating of 750 to 1000 CFM at 1" static pressure(WC). You can always block off part of the intake if flow is too great. You'll also have some losses due to the prefilter you'll want to use on the intake to the blower. RR

alright well he said that the model that he currently rates at 1600 cfm be cause of the ducting modifications he made)was originally rated at 2000 cfm at 1 wc.now i would be ripping that duct crap off so is there a way to really figure out exactly how to go about getting the right cfm out of it.I have read that 20% over is the limit so how do I know when I reach that amount. If 750 cfm is what I want (5 sq ft at 150 per) should i just block off approximately 3/8 Th's of the out put?I mean would it work like that or would I have to get a motor controller and use it at only half power? It seems like a really good price for the power I am just wondering what type of modifications I will have to do ,because if it is too extensive it is not really worth the lower initial price IMO.

Industry standard in HVAC is to block off part of the intake with vanes or a varicone to control static pressure, not the output. Adjust so a cigarette lighter held in the work area will have the flame bent from 45 to 90 degrees without flickering or blowing out. You can also get a motor speed controller. They're less than $100 for a motor that size. A piece of metal or even cardboard over the intake is much cheaper. RR
