2nd Grow Problems, No pins

Hey guys, I did a tub setup. The substrate about 2 & 1/2 inches deep in a 5 inch deep tub. There are no holes drilled in the side for FAE. I've been fanning it at least 4 or 5 times a day. I've been doing 12/12 light cycles and nothing seems to be working. The water content on the top of the myc is enough to glisten, no more. I haven't misted them in about 3 or 4 days and they're just sitting like that. Any ideas? My other batch made in bags have already started producing 1 to 2 inch mushrooms, which is making me angry b/c this was started at the exact same time as the bags and hasn't produced.
I'm looking for any possible ideas on this. I can give more info on the setup if need be.
Also on a side note, don't let anybody tell you bags are a waste. I did a B+ bag setup with 50/50 hpoo. Not only did the bags produce subsequent flushes, but on one bag's *5th* flush it produced a muchroom that was 10 inches tall and as large in circumfrence as a quarter.

Yea my 1st grow ever was in bags 50/50 Tenn stud mixed with rye,I got so sick of waiting for them to pin I cut the tops off of them and started fanning them like crazy....still nothing than I left them alone for a few days and they were so full of mushrooms they were all twisting around each other fighting for room.

My first grow I did 2 TUBS, one was Golden Teacher one was B+.
B+ took off and produced some horrendous mushrooms...I was very fortunate my first grow. However, my Golden Teacher never pinned, it never even colonized all of the dung. I tried to fruit it for almost a month and nothing happened. B+ was done with the second flush and I was going to go for a third and maybe more but I ended up throwing both of the tubs away. I lived around a lot of college students and sometimes police would show up and ask us some questions, they started coming more often and I did not want to risk anything so I threw them away. Now is a whole different story :):):) Let it go for a while..be patient.
Peace,
I.T.

Well it was completely colonized. My only speculation is that being such a large mass I might have thought the entire thing was colonized before the whole thing actually was colonized. That happened to one of my bags and it produced very poor results at a very retarded speed. However I used my best judgement and I have faith that it was completely colonized when I did start to do it. Right now I'm going to stick with it and give it proper light and FAE.

Neither cases are an option for me. I'm starting to think the top is a bit too wet for mushies too grow, I think the wetness is halting them from growing, so I am leaving the tub open for a bit to evaporate exess moisture. I figured it would be better than potentially damaging them by lightly patting with a paper towel, no?

I doubt you have enough air exchange for fruiting. If you are going to use 2 1/2" of substrate, you need larger than a 5" bin or it will become saturated with stale air. This time, try leaving the lid crooked so it can have constant air exchange. Next time, use a bigger tub. RR

Will do. Thanks good sir.
I have a second tub of the same size. Would it be worth it for me to flip it over and cut holes in the side for FAE? That would only really account for Oxygen intake and not for Carbon Dioxide expullsion, would it not? Is it worth trying at all? Essentually I'd have 8 inches of room to work with for FAE, but the lower 3 - 2 1/2 inches are w/ my substrate so I probably don't want to tamper with that portion.

How did you colonize that straw/poo bag? LC? Or some colonized grains?
